HYIP (High Yield Investment Programs) are pretty popular right now on the internet. Unfortunately most of them are scams. These companies promise you a great return on your investment over a certain period to time. It can be as little as 30 days or several years. Some HYIPs advertise interest rates as high a 1000% and they will promise that the interest is compounded daily.
A typical example may be that you invest $1000.00 for six months and the HYIP will pay you 5% interest per day or 150% per month. Sounds good doesn't it? Most things that sound to good to be true are not.
Some HYIPs position themselves as offshore investment clubs and things of the like. This can really get you into trouble before you invest you need to check into the legal issues of offshore investing.
My recommendation is to stay away from HYIP programs. If you decide to participate make sure that you do your homework before you invest. Read the websites FAQ section and see if they have a phone number listed on the website; if they do call them and ask questions? See if they have a guarantee on your funds?
There probably are some legit HYIP programs out there but I guarantee you that they do not pay as high an interest rate as some of these scam artists advertise. I would definitely stay away from the ones that promise a huge return in short amount of time. Investments just do not work that way.
Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is not true.
